Grab a brolly before you leave the house this morning, but you might not need it for long.

Cornwall is in for a mixed bag of weather this week, with a soggy Monday giving way to brighter spells before things take a turn again later on. Here is what the forecast for South West England has in store between Monday 8th June and Friday 12th June.

Today and tonight

It is a wet start to the day, with the rain heavy in places and a gusty wind to go with it. The good news is that it should not hang around. The rain is set to clear to the east by lunchtime, leaving a much drier and brighter afternoon with some sunny spells. It will feel rather cool for June, with a maximum temperature of 17°C.

Tonight stays largely dry across the east through the evening, though scattered showers further west are expected to creep a little further east overnight. It will be a rather chilly night for the time of year, dropping to a minimum of 7°C.

Tuesday brings a thunder risk

Tuesday is shaping up to be a day of sunshine and scattered showers across the region. Those showers could turn heavy in places, and there is a risk of thunder thrown in. Temperatures stay on the cool side, with a high of around 16°C.

The rest of the week

Wednesday looks set to follow a similar pattern, with further sunshine and showers throughout the day. Then comes the change. A spell of wet and windy weather is forecast to move in for Thursday. Friday could start cloudy and damp before turning drier and brighter later in the day.
