Cornwall Faces Showers This Weekend Before Cold Snap Hits
Just when it felt like spring had finally settled in, the weather has other ideas. The Met Office’s latest South West forecast points to a wet end to the weekend in Cornwall, a brief reprieve, and then a properly chilly week ahead with frost back on the cards.
A wet Saturday for Cornwall
Today, Saturday 9th May, southern coasts are looking rather cloudy at times, with showery rain heading towards Cornwall and later pushing into Devon. Elsewhere across the region it should stay largely dry with sunny spells, and it will feel warm with highs of 21°C.
Overnight, those showery outbreaks of rain will slowly edge southwards. It will turn rather breezy in places, particularly near the coasts, and temperatures will drop to a minimum of 6°C.
Sunday brightens up
Any leftover rain on the south coast should clear early on Sunday 10th May. After that, it is set to be a largely dry and bright day with sunny spells developing, feeling pleasant where the sun breaks through. Maximum temperature on Sunday is 18°C.

Frost risk returns next week
The outlook from Monday 11th to Wednesday 13th May is less encouraging. The Met Office describes the period as unsettled and cool, with rain or showers affecting much of the country. There will be some sunshine mixed in, but it will feel chilly, with a risk of frost.
So if you are planning to get the bedding plants in or fire up the BBQ, you might want to hold off a few days yet.
