Frost Could Hit Cornwall Tonight as Temperatures Tumble

Just when it felt like spring had properly settled in, Cornwall is being told to brace for a chilly few nights ahead, with a touch of frost possible in rural spots before the week is out.

The Met Office forecast for the South West, covering Sunday 10th May through to Thursday 14th May, points to a largely dry start to the week before things turn blustery and unsettled.

A bright but cool Sunday

Any isolated outbreaks of rain were expected to clear the south coast early on Sunday, leaving a largely dry and fine day with sunny spells developing. A freshening breeze was forecast to make it feel noticeably cooler than Saturday, with temperatures topping out at around 16°C.

Sunday evening looks set to stay bright and sunny, with largely clear skies developing overnight. Winds will ease, and that combination of clear skies and light winds is enough to drag temperatures down to a minimum of 2°C, low enough for a touch of frost in some prone rural spots.

Patchy rain on Monday

Monday starts chilly but sunny, before cloud builds in from the north. Patchy rain is possible by midday, although the forecast suggests it will fragment as it moves through, meaning some parts of Cornwall could stay dry altogether. Highs of 15°C are expected.

Blustery showers later in the week

The changeable theme continues into Tuesday with outbreaks of patchy rain clearing south. Wednesday and Thursday turn blustery, with sunny spells and heavy showers expected on both days. It will continue to feel chilly throughout, with a further risk of frost.
