Cornwall heatwave holds on, with a thunderstorm risk on Wednesday
If you were hoping for a break from the heat this week, you are going to be waiting a while. The forecast for South West England covering Tuesday 14 July to Saturday 18 July has the heatwave carrying on, with temperatures pushing 30°C and only a slow easing towards the weekend.

Sun, haze and a stubborn breeze
Any early morning low cloud will burn away quickly, leaving another dry and sunny day. The sunshine may turn hazy at times, and the brisk breeze along the south coast is set to continue. It will feel very warm, especially inland, with a maximum temperature of 30°C.
Tonight stays fine and dry with plenty of late sunshine. There is little change overnight, with skies largely clear and that notable breeze still blowing towards the south. The minimum temperature is 16°C.
The odd rumble on Wednesday
Wednesday brings another largely dry and sunny day across the region, and another 30°C maximum. But there is a very small chance of the odd thunderstorm developing later in the day, and it is Cornwall that sits closest to that risk.
What happens after that
From Thursday through to Saturday, the picture stays largely dry and settled. A few showers are possible at times, though most places will avoid them. It will be very warm to begin with, then a little cooler by Saturday.
