Cornwall to hit 30°C as dry sunshine holds into the weekend

If you have been waiting for a proper stretch of summer, this is your week. Cornwall is in for days of dry, strong sunshine, with temperatures climbing to 30°C and little sign of it breaking before the weekend is out. Pack the sun cream, and maybe rethink anything strenuous in the middle of the afternoon.

Hot and hazy today

Thursday starts with any early low cloud clearing quickly, leaving a dry morning and long spells of sunshine spreading widely across the region. The afternoon turns hot, with light winds and plenty of hazy sunshine. The forecast puts the maximum at 30°C.

A warm night to follow

The sunshine holds to the end of the day, though an isolated shower could develop towards the south coast. Overnight stays dry for most, with clear skies and temperatures on the warm side. It drops no lower than 14°C, so a restless night is on the cards for anyone without a fan.

Friday keeps the heat

Any morning cloud clears again on Friday to bring another dry, sunny day, with the sunshine turning hazy at times through the afternoon. It stays hot, though some coasts feel a little cooler than inland. Another 30°C high is expected.

The weekend outlook

Saturday through to Monday stays mostly dry with sunny spells. A few isolated late afternoon showers remain possible. Temperatures edge a little nearer to average across the weekend, but it still feels warm.
