Cornwall Braced for a Soggy Start to the Week Before a Warmer Turn

Anyone hoping for a dry stretch in Cornwall this week will need to hold on a bit longer. The Met Office forecast for the South West covering Sunday 17th May through to Thursday 21st May points to an unsettled few days, with rain, showers and below-average temperatures, before things finally start to pick up later in the week.

What to Expect Today

The day began on a bright note, but cloud is set to build quickly, with a few showers developing by lunchtime. Those showers will then become more frequent and heavier as the afternoon wears on. A band of more persistent rain and stronger winds is due to arrive later in the afternoon. It will feel a touch less cool than recent days, though temperatures remain below average with a maximum of 15°C.

Overnight and Into Monday

Scattered showers will continue overnight with some clearer breaks in between. Later in the night the showers may become more organised and heavier, with a minimum temperature of 7°C.

The Outlook for the Week Ahead

Rain clears on Tuesday, giving way to a mix of sunshine and blustery showers. Wednesday brings the chance of further showers, before conditions turn drier, brighter and warmer on Thursday.

So if the wet stuff is putting you off heading out, Thursday looks to be the day worth waiting for.
