Rain, Gales and Drizzle Ahead: What Cornwall Can Expect This Week

A mixed and often unsettled weather pattern is forecast across South West England this week, with Cornwall seeing some of the more challenging conditions at times.

Monday 19th January

Monday brings another cloudy and fairly dull day across much of the region. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle are expected, mainly affecting eastern areas. In the west, including parts of Cornwall, there is a chance of some brighter breaks developing, although a few showers are possible in the far west.

Conditions will be breezier than recent days, with maximum temperatures reaching around 10°C.

Monday Night

Rain and drizzle are expected to ease gradually during the evening, allowing for clearer spells overnight. Winds will strengthen in the west, and a band of rain is forecast to arrive into Cornwall by dawn. It will turn chilly, with minimum temperatures dropping to around 1°C.

Tuesday 20th January

Tuesday is set to be drier and brighter in the east of the region. Cornwall, however, will see cloudier skies with rain that could turn heavy at times. Stronger winds are expected, with coastal gales likely. The rain will push eastwards during the evening.

Daytime temperatures will be slightly cooler, with highs around 9°C.

Outlook: Wednesday to Friday

Wednesday looks windy, with rain and showers continuing across the region. Thursday and Friday are expected to bring sunshine mixed with scattered showers, which may merge into longer spells of rain at times. Temperatures are forecast to stay around the seasonal average through the latter part of the week.

People in Cornwall, especially in coastal areas, may want to keep an eye on conditions as the stronger winds move through.
