Enjoy the Sun While You Can: Showers on the Way for the South West

The South West is in for a pleasant start to the week, but rain and strong winds are set to arrive by Tuesday, so it’s worth making the most of the sunshine while it lasts.

Sunday: A bright start, clouds creeping in

Any overnight frost and fog will clear early on Sunday, giving way to plenty of sunshine to begin the day. Cloud will gradually build through the morning, limiting the brightness into the afternoon, though it should remain largely dry. Winds will be lighter than they have been recently, with a maximum temperature of 14°C.

Sunday evening looks settled, with sunny spells to close the day and clear periods expected overnight. It will turn cold after dark, however, with some frost possible in rural areas and temperatures dropping to a minimum of 3°C.

Monday: Still decent, but changing from the east

Monday brings more sunshine, though cloud will gradually spread in from the east as the day progresses. A slight easterly breeze will develop, but any lingering brighter spells should still feel pleasant enough. Again, temperatures will reach a maximum of 14°C.

Tuesday to Thursday: The weather turns

The more unsettled conditions arrive from Tuesday, which looks cloudier with the odd shower. Wednesday and Thursday both carry a chance of showers too, though some sunny intervals are still expected. A strong and gusty wind is also set to develop for a time during this period.

In short, Sunday is the pick of the week, so if you’re planning anything outdoors in the South West, today is the day for it.
