Sunshine Turns to Rain: Big Weather Shift This Week

Residents across the South West of England can expect a mixed start to the week, with early sunshine giving way to cloud, rain and a noticeable drop in temperature.

Sunday 22nd March

The day begins with sunshine across much of the region, although it has been a chilly start with areas of frost and fog. These patches are expected to clear through the morning.

Cloud will gradually build as the day goes on, though brighter spells are likely to persist, particularly in the south. In these sunnier intervals, it should feel relatively warm, with light winds and a maximum temperature of 16°C.

Sunday Night

Conditions will turn cloudier into the evening, with patchy rain moving southwards. Overnight, it is expected to become drier again, with clearer spells developing more widely. Temperatures will drop, making it a chilly night with lows of around 2°C.

Monday 23rd March

Monday will start dry with some bright or sunny spells. However, cloud will increase through the day. Despite this, it is expected to remain dry, with light winds continuing. Temperatures will reach a maximum of 15°C.

Outlook: Tuesday 24th to Thursday 26th March

The weather is set to turn more unsettled from Tuesday onwards. Conditions will become increasingly wet and windy during the day.

By Wednesday, brighter spells are expected to return, but it will feel colder. Blustery showers are likely, with wintry conditions possible over higher ground.

Thursday is expected to be drier and brighter overall, although temperatures will remain on the chilly side.

The week ahead brings a clear shift from early spring sunshine to more changeable and colder conditions across the South West.
