Cornwall Could See 30°C Today and That’s Not the Half of It

Forget the cardigan. Bank Holiday Monday is shaping up to be one of the hottest May days Cornwall has seen in years, and the record books might not survive it.

The Met Office forecast for South West England covering Monday 25th May to Friday 29th May points to hot sunshine to start the week, with warmth holding on afterwards, though a few showers could creep in.

A scorcher to kick off the week

Bank Holiday Monday will be dry and settled, with high pressure dominating and giving almost unbroken sunshine throughout the day. It will become hot in the light winds, with afternoon temperatures not far off breaking records for May. The maximum temperature is expected to hit 30°C.

The fine weather carries on into the evening, with lots of sunshine to end the day. Patchy cloud may develop overnight, but it stays dry, and it will be a quite warm night with a minimum temperature of 16°C.

Tuesday stays hot, but keep half an eye on the sky

Another mainly dry, often sunny and hot day is on the cards for Tuesday. That said, some patchy cloud is possible, and an isolated thundery shower cannot be ruled out later in the day. The maximum temperature is forecast at 29°C.

The rest of the week

Looking ahead from Wednesday to Friday, the weather will stay warm, though cooler than it has been recently. There will be some sunshine at times, with a chance of a few showers that could turn thundery.

So if you have outdoor plans for the bank holiday, now looks like the time to make the most of it.
