Cornwall’s Warm Spell to End With Thunder and Hail Next Week
The deckchairs might want to come back in by Monday afternoon.
The Met Office is forecasting bright and sunny spells across the South West today, with temperatures reaching 22°C, before the picture changes from the start of next week. After mist and fog clears, Saturday 30th May is set to stay very warm in light winds, though slightly cooler than recent days.
A comfortable night, then a cloudy Sunday
Tonight begins mostly dry with high cloud around, with light rain reaching the west in the early hours. The overnight minimum drops to 7°C, making for a more comfortable sleep than many will have had in recent days.
Sunday 31st May starts under low cloud, lifting through the morning and into the afternoon. Isolated showers will develop with sunny spells in between, and temperatures peaking at 20°C.
Thunderstorms and hail possible from Monday
Scattered showers continue into Monday 1st June, when the forecast warns of heavy rain along with possible thunderstorms and a mix of hail.
The unsettled run is expected to last through to Wednesday 3rd June, with temperatures returning to average for the time of year.
