Cornwall weather: Friday 11 September, sunshine before Sunday rain
You get a taste of both halves of autumn this weekend. Cornwall’s weather opens on Friday with sunny intervals and a light breeze, stays bright and warm into Saturday, then turns cloudier with rain moving in on Sunday morning. Here is how the next few days shape up around Truro.

Today, Friday 11 September
Friday brings sunny intervals across the county, with the temperature reaching a high of 20°C and feeling close to 19°C in the breeze. There is around a 30% chance of a shower first thing at 9am, so an early walk might catch a spot of drizzle. The wind stays light, gusting to about 15mph from the west-north-west. It is a gentle start to the run.
Tonight
Skies clear as the evening goes on, and the temperature drifts down to around 11°C. A calm, cool night, and a good one for anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of the stars.
Saturday 12 September
Tomorrow (Saturday 12 September) keeps the bright theme going, with more sunny intervals and a high of 21°C. It stays mild overnight too, only dropping to about 18°C. The wind picks up a little, gusting to 25mph, so the coast will feel fresher than inland. The chance of rain stays low at around 10% late in the evening.

Sunday 13 September
This is where the weekend turns. Sunday brings overcast skies and light rain, with a 60% chance of it falling around 6am. The high still reaches 21°C and the low holds at 18°C, so it stays warm even under the cloud. Gusts ease back slightly to 22mph.
The week ahead
Monday 14 September stays overcast with a high of 21°C and only a 20% chance of rain in the afternoon. Tuesday 15 September brightens back to sunny intervals, though it cools to 19°C, and it carries the strongest wind of the run with gusts to 28mph. Wednesday 16 September clouds over again at 18°C. By Thursday 17 September the forecast tips into light rain, with a high of 18°C and gusts reaching 30mph.
The warmth holds on longer than the sunshine does. Even as the cloud and rain move in on Sunday the temperature barely drops, and by the end of next week it is the wind, building past 30mph, that will be worth keeping an eye on.
