Today

The Cornwall weather comes as part of the Met Office’s South West England regional outlook, and it sets a breezy, changeable tone for the weekend. A fresh breeze pushes scattered showers through Saturday, most frequent in the west, with warm, brighter spells in between and a high of 18°C. The wind has more bite on the most exposed coasts, and the Met Office picks out North Devon’s exposed stretches for the strongest winds, so it feels cooler the further out you are on an open shoreline.

Tonight

Light showers hang on in the west overnight. As the wind eases the air turns chilly, dropping into single figures with a low of 5°C. A noticeably colder night than of late, so it is worth pulling the windows to before bed.

Sunday

Sunday (11 October) opens bright but cold, though cloud is never far away and the morning stays mostly grey. That cloud then thickens through the day ahead of a band of patchy rain and strengthening winds, which move in during the afternoon. The high reaches 17°C before the weather closes in.

The week ahead

Monday (12 October) stays grey and damp, widely overcast with the odd spot of drizzle running through the day. Tuesday (13 October) is the pick of the three, turning much brighter once a morning of rain and strong winds has cleared through. Wednesday (14 October) then holds bright and breezy.

The wind is the thread to watch from here, easing overnight before picking up again with each new band of rain, so the brightest skies this week arrive with the strongest gusts close behind.
