Truro and much of Cornwall wake up to sunshine, with the temperature climbing to a high of 21°C and dipping no lower than 13°C. Rain is barely on the cards, with the chance sitting below 5% through the day. The catch is the wind. Gusts reach up to 29mph, the breeziest reading of the coming week, so expect a fresh edge on exposed beaches and clifftops even under a bright sky.

Tonight

After the sun goes down the temperature eases back to around 13°C. The settled pattern holds, so it stays largely dry overnight, with that daytime breeze the main thing to note before the weekend picks up again.

Sunday 16 August

Sunday is the pick of the weekend. Full sunshine returns, the high nudges up to 23°C and the wind drops back a little, with gusts easing to 24mph. Overnight it turns fresher, down to 12°C, and rain stays unlikely at under 5%.

The week ahead

The settled spell carries into the new week. Monday and Tuesday both hold at 23°C, with Monday bringing sunny intervals and only a 10% chance of a shower around 2pm. Tuesday is where the first real wobble creeps in, with the rain chance rising to 30% first thing at about 9am before the day recovers. Wednesday and Thursday cool slightly to 21°C and then 20°C under sunny intervals, and the breeze picks back up, gusting into the high 20s. Thursday carries a 30% chance of rain late on, around 10pm.

So the picture is bright and dry for the weekend, with the temperature and the rain risk both creeping the wrong way as the week wears on. Whether that late-Thursday shower actually arrives is the thing to keep an eye on.
