Cornwall weather: Saturday 31 October, fog lifts to a mild 16°C
If you are stepping out early this Halloween, give the fog a chance to shift before you write the day off. Cornwall starts Saturday under mist and murk, but it burns back to leave dry, bright and mild weather for the pumpkins and costumes. The settled spell holds into next week as high pressure takes charge, though the catch is the nights, which turn noticeably colder.

Today
Fog and mist are the first hurdle, lifting through the morning but slow to clear in the spots that tend to hold onto it. Once it goes, a dry and bright day follows, feeling rather mild wherever the murk has burned away. Winds stay light and the high reaches 16°C. For the last day of October, it turns into a gentle one after that grey start.
Tonight
It stays dry into the evening with clear spells overhead. Mist and fog patches begin to reform by morning, though mostly away from Cornwall. It turns chillier than Friday night under light winds, with the temperature dropping to around 4°C, so expect a cold end to the night.
Sunday 1 November
The mist and fog gradually lift again, but Sunday is not the clear-cut bright day that Saturday becomes. A band of low cloud and patchy rain pushes south through the day before clearing by late evening. Winds stay light and temperatures sit near normal, with a high of 15°C. A greyer, damper middle to the weekend.

The outlook: Monday to Wednesday
High pressure takes hold into the new week and brings mostly fine, settled weather with it. Expect sunny spells and only the odd shower at times, with daytime temperatures near average. The sting is in the overnight hours, which stay chilly, so the mornings will carry a real bite.
That chill is the thread to watch. The days stay kind and settled under the high, but clear skies come at a price once the sun goes down, and the cold nights look like the part of this forecast that sticks around.
