Cornwall weather: Sunday 18 October, chilly sunshine turns wet
Make the most of the bright spells today, because they come with a deadline. The Met Office has Cornwall down for a chilly, sunny Sunday that clouds over as the day goes on, and once night falls the rain moves in. Here is what the week’s weather has in store, from the Met Office regional forecast for South West England, which covers Cornwall.

Today
A bright, chilly start gives way to a pleasant autumn day, with sunny spells and mostly light winds. The catch comes later, as cloud builds in from the east through the afternoon and the odd shower could develop. Temperatures sit around average for the time of year, reaching a high of about 14°C. It should feel pleasant whenever the sun is out.
Tonight
The evening holds on to some clear intervals, with just the odd shower around. Overnight the picture changes, as cloud thickens from the east and outbreaks of rain arrive, some of it perhaps heavy. It will feel milder than the previous night, with the temperature dropping no lower than about 5°C.
Monday
Monday starts cloudy and wet, though the rain gradually becomes confined to western parts of the region and turns more showery as the morning goes on. Skies brighten from the east behind it, letting some sunny spells back through. Temperatures again stay around average, with a high near 14°C.

The outlook: Tuesday to Thursday
The unsettled theme sticks around into midweek. Outbreaks of rain develop at times on Tuesday and into Wednesday, before Thursday mixes some brighter spells with passing showers. The bigger change is the wind, which picks up as the week goes on, and the Met Office says coastal gales are possible, especially later on.
So the sunshine today is worth catching while it is here. From tonight onwards, Cornwall is in for a wetter, and increasingly blustery, run.
