Cornwall weather: Sunday 6 September, sunny 22°C then a cooler week
You get one more proper taste of summer before the week softens its edges. Cornwall wakes to clear skies and a high of 22°C this Sunday, so if you have outdoor plans, the first half of the day is where to put them. Here is how the weather shapes up from now through to next weekend.

Today: Sunday 6 September
Sunny and bright is the headline, with the mercury reaching 22°C and dipping to around 16°C overnight. It will feel a fraction cooler than the number suggests, closer to 21°C, once you factor in the breeze. Wind gusts could touch 24mph, so a light layer near the coast will not go amiss. Rain stays away for most of the day, though the chance of a shower creeps up to 30% by 11pm.
Tonight
The clear spell does not hang around. Mist and low cloud roll in overnight, holding temperatures at a mild 16°C. If you are up early tomorrow, expect a grey, damp-feeling start rather than the blue skies of the day before.
Monday 7 September
Cloud takes over for the start of the working week. Monday tops out at 20°C with a low of 13°C, and the cloud thickens enough through the afternoon to bring a 40% chance of rain by around 6pm. Nothing washout about it, but worth keeping an umbrella close if you are out into the evening.

Tuesday and Wednesday
Midweek brings sunny intervals back, along with a slight dip in temperature. Tuesday reaches 19°C and Wednesday 18°C, both with cooler nights down to 12°C. Rain chances sit at 30% around midday Tuesday and 40% first thing Wednesday, so the brighter spells come with the odd passing shower.
Thursday and Friday
Thursday is the greyest day of the run, overcast from the off with a 60% chance of light rain around 6am and a high of 19°C. Friday stays cloudy but drier, again near 19°C, with overnight lows holding up at 16°C. The nights are turning milder even as the days lose their shine.
The weekend ahead
Saturday 12 September looks overcast with a high of 19°C and a 40% chance of rain around 7am. It is a quieter, cloudier close to the week than the sunny Sunday that opened it, and the outlook leans unsettled rather than settled. Whether the sun makes a proper return after that is the question the week leaves hanging.
