Cornwall weather: Thursday 20 August, thundery showers and hail
Keep half an eye on the sky today. Thursday brings a mix of sunshine and showers across Cornwall, and some of those showers could turn thundery as they push eastwards, with the odd rumble and even a little hail thrown in. It is a livelier start than the week has offered so far, but the week’s weather has calmer, brighter days waiting by the weekend.

Today
Thursday is a day of sunshine and showers across the South West, Cornwall included. Some of the showers turn thundery at times as they track eastwards, and there is a chance of hail mixed in. It feels slightly cooler than Wednesday and rather breezy, though it stays warm in any sunny spells. The maximum temperature is around 21°C.
Tonight
The showers reduce in number through the evening, but some keep going overnight. The western coasts hold onto the wettest of it, where a shower could still be heavy and thundery. Elsewhere there are clear spells and the wind falls lighter. The minimum temperature drops to about 10°C.
Friday
Friday brings another showery day, and again one or two of these could be thundery with hail. The far east of the region stays driest with some sunny spells, so the further up-country you are the better your chance of staying dry. It feels fresher than of late, with a high once more around 21°C.

Saturday to Monday
The weekend leans more settled, with an increasing number of sunny spells breaking through. There is only a small chance of a shower on Saturday. Temperatures sit below average for August, but where the sunshine comes out it should feel pleasant. After a rattly couple of days, that quieter spell will be a welcome change, if it holds.
