If you have been making plans around the dry spell, keep Tuesday flexible, because the settled run does not hold for long. The week’s weather opens overcast in Truro, clings to some late-summer warmth for a day or two, then turns showery from midweek. Here is how it breaks down across Cornwall.

Today

A grey start. Tuesday stays overcast through the day, with the high reaching around 22C and dipping to about 15C. There is a 50% chance of rain around 6am, so an early damp patch is possible before the cloud settles in for the day. It stays breezy too, with gusts up to 21mph.

Tonight

Mild and cloudy, with temperatures easing back to around 15C overnight.

Wednesday

Brighter. Sunny intervals push through, though the wind picks up sharply, with gusts reaching 28mph, the strongest of the week. The high eases to 21C and the low sits near 14C. Keep an eye on the early part of the day, when there is around a 50% chance of light showers near 6am.

Thursday

The showers arrive properly. Thursday brings light showers and a cooler feel, with a high of 20C and an overnight low of 12C. There is a 70% chance of rain around 6am, the wettest morning of the week, and gusts reach 25mph.

Friday

More of the same. Light showers again, 20C by day and 13C overnight, with a 50% chance of rain around 6am and gusts to 24mph.

The weekend and outlook

The weekend leans brighter. Saturday offers sunny intervals at 20C, dropping to 12C, with gusts around 23mph. Sunday is the pick of the two, sunny and settled, holding at 20C with a low of 12C, just a 10% chance of a shower near 7am and the wind easing to 18mph gusts.

So the week to come sits back to front, the warmth up front on Tuesday, the showers stacked into the middle from Wednesday to Friday, and the calmest, clearest skies saved for Sunday.
