Cornwall weather: Tuesday 20 October, gales follow the sunshine
Enjoy Tuesday while it lasts, Cornwall. The week opens bright and sunny, and that is about as good as it gets for the next few days, because from midweek the picture turns changeable and the wind takes a real hold. Here is how the regional forecast covering Cornwall shapes up from today through to Saturday, according to the Met Office.

Today, Tuesday 20 October
A fine, sunny day across Cornwall. Any morning rain and cloud lingering in the east gradually clears away to the north, so the sunshine spreads more widely as the day goes on. The sting in the tail comes later, with blustery showers pushing into the far southwest by evening. Highs reach around 15C.
Tonight
Those showers give way to more organised bands of rain, which track northwestwards through the night. Winds strengthen to strong westerlies, so it turns wet and increasingly breezy. Temperatures dip to a chilly 6C.
Wednesday 21 October
Early morning rain clears away to leave scattered showers, heavy at times, with occasional sunny spells in between. The wind is the headline of the day, continuing to strengthen and reaching gale force along exposed coasts. It feels cooler too, with highs of just 12C.

The outlook, Thursday to Saturday
Thursday (22nd) brings a calmer, brighter start before it turns wet and windy again through the afternoon. Blustery showers carry on into Friday (23rd). After that a brief settled spell looks likely, a short breather before further rain arrives later on Saturday (24th). So if you are planning around the weekend, that quieter window before Saturday’s rain is the one to aim for, assuming it holds. Keep an eye on the forecast for the days ahead, because a changeable week like this one can shift its timings quickly.
