Cornwall weather: Tuesday 27 October, sunshine between the showers
If you are heading out across Cornwall this morning, you may end up reaching for sunglasses and a waterproof in the same hour. The Met Office has autumnal sunshine breaking up the showers today, and its South West England forecast, which covers Cornwall, points to a much calmer second half of the week. Here is how the week’s weather is shaping up.

Today
It feels fresher today, with long sunny spells and scattered showers running through. Some of those showers could turn heavy at times, mainly over the hills. The wind is the thing to watch early on. It starts strong and gusty, particularly along the exposed coasts, before slowly easing through the day. The maximum temperature reaches 15°C.
Tonight
Through the evening the showers become lighter and pull back towards the coast. The winds keep easing, though it stays breezy along the northwest coast. The minimum temperature dips to 7°C, the coolest night of this stretch.
Wednesday
Wednesday 28 October brings patchy cloud and sunny spells, with the odd isolated light shower at times. In any sunshine it should feel pleasant, helped along by light winds. The maximum temperature nudges up to 16°C, the warmest point of the period.

Thursday to Saturday
The end of the week settles down. Thursday 29, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October each bring sunny spells and light winds, a quiet run to close out October. The trade-off comes overnight, with mist or fog patches possible in prone spots. Then the cloud starts to build as the weekend arrives.
Halloween itself, Saturday 31 October, looks calm enough for now, but with that cloud thickening from the weekend, the trick-or-treaters may yet want a coat over the costumes.
