Cornwall weather: Wednesday 22 July, 29°C before weekend rain

If you have plans to be outside this week, the front half is the part to grab. A run of dry, warm days is settling over the South West, with Cornwall in line for plenty of sunshine before things turn more unsettled at the weekend.

Today

The region starts with some early low cloud and fog, but that lifts through the morning to leave a bright, dry day. Afternoon temperatures climb to a high of 28°C, helped along by a gentle, mainly northerly wind. It should feel pleasantly warm once the cloud has cleared.

Tonight

Dry conditions hold through the evening and overnight, with clear spells at first. Some low cloud is likely to reform later, and a few patches of mist or fog may form with it. The overnight low drops to around 8°C, so a cooler end to a warm day.

Thursday

Another grey and misty start is on the cards, but it burns back to give a fine day with sunny spells building. The gentle breeze stays, and it keeps feeling warm in the sun. Thursday is the pick of the week for temperature, reaching a high of 29°C.

The weekend

Friday stays fine, with more spells of warm sunshine to round off the settled run. From there the picture changes. Over the weekend the weather turns more mixed, with rain developing at times and a breezier feel moving in.
