Cornwall weather: Wednesday 5 August, fresher before a warmer weekend
If yesterday’s heat felt a touch heavy, you will notice the difference the moment you step outside today. A brisk westerly wind is arriving across Cornwall, taking the edge off the warmth and clearing the air, and the good news for anyone planning the days ahead is that it stays largely dry right through to the weekend. Here is how the regional forecast for the South West shapes up.

Today
One or two showers are possible across Devon and Cornwall, so keep that in mind if you are heading out west, but for most of us it is another dry day with plenty of sunshine. The developing westerly breeze is what makes the difference, helping it all feel a little fresher than of late. Stand in that strong August sun, though, and it will still feel warm. The maximum sits around 22°C.
Tonight
A few showers carry on overnight, especially in the west of the region, so Cornwall sees more of them than most. The breeze eases gradually as the night goes on, and the clearest skies hold towards the east. The minimum drops to around 13°C.
Thursday
Another largely dry day with plenty of sunshine, though a few showers may linger through the morning towards Devon and Cornwall before things settle. Temperatures land around the average for the time of year, with a high near 22°C again.

Friday to Sunday
This is where the week turns in your favour. Friday and Saturday stay dry and bright, and the temperatures start to climb, so the weekend is shaping up nicely for the beach or the garden. Sunday brings a risk of a few showers, but even then it stays dry and warm for most. Worth keeping an eye on the sky before you commit the towels to the car.
