Flood Warnings Issued for Cornwall Coast as High Tides Hit
Residents along parts of Cornwall’s south coast are being warned of potential flooding as high tides and strong winds are expected over the next two days.
Three Flood Warnings in Place
As of 12:15pm on Wednesday 5th November 2025, three flood warnings have been issued across Cornwall:

South Cornwall coast from Gribbin Head to Rame Head

South Cornwall coast from Lizard Point to Gribbin Head excluding the Tidal Fal Estuary

Tidal Fal Estuary
Flooding is expected around high tides on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
Gribbin Head to Rame Head
Flooding is expected two hours either side of high tide on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
The areas most affected include Fowey, Lostwithiel, Polperro, Looe, Millendreath and the B3247 at Seaton.
High tide at Plymouth is forecast for 5:21pm on Wednesday and 5:44am on Thursday, with total high tide levels of 2.97mAOD and 2.93mAOD respectively. Tide levels are expected to be around 0.4 metres above normal.
Winds are forecast to reach Force 4 South Easterly with offshore wave heights of 2.6 metres on Wednesday evening, easing to Force 3 South Easterly and 1.8 metres on Thursday morning. Coastal conditions should ease by Thursday afternoon.
People are being urged to avoid beaches and coastal promenades which may be flooded.
The flood warning area covers Gribbin Head to Rame Head, including Fowey, Golant, Lostwithiel, Lerryn, Polruan, Polperro, Looe, the Looe Rivers and Seaton.
Lizard Point to Gribbin Head
Flooding is expected two hours either side of high tide on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning along this stretch of coast.
The locations most affected are Cadgwith, Coverack, Swanpool, Portmellon, Pentewan, St Mawes, East Portholland, Mevagissey, Polmear and Polkerris.
High tide at Falmouth is forecast for 4:46pm on Wednesday and 5:06am on Thursday, with total high tide levels of 2.85mAOD and 2.76mAOD respectively. Tide levels are expected to be 0.3 metres above normal.
Winds are forecast to be Force 4 South Easterly with offshore wave heights of 2.5 metres on Wednesday, easing to Force 3 Easterly and 1.8 metres on Thursday morning. Coastal conditions are expected to ease by Thursday afternoon.
People are advised to avoid beaches and coastal promenades that may be flooded.
This warning will be updated by 12:00pm on Thursday 6th November 2025 or sooner if the situation changes.
The flood warning area includes Lizard Point to Gribbin Head, covering Coverack, the tidal Helford Estuary, Falmouth, St Mawes, Gorran Haven, Portmellon, Mevagissey, Pentewan and Par.
Tidal Fal Estuary
Flooding is expected around high tide on Wednesday evening.
Low-lying coastal roads, promenades, car parks and harbours may be affected in Falmouth, Penryn, Flushing, Mylor Bridge, the A39 at Perranarworthal, Devoran and the A390 at Tresillian.
High tide at Falmouth is forecast for 4:46pm, with total high tide levels of 2.85mAOD, expected to be 0.3 metres above normal.
Conditions include Force 4 South Easterly winds and offshore wave heights of 2.5 metres, easing by Thursday morning.
People are advised to avoid coastal roads, footpaths and car parks which may be flooded.
This warning will be updated by 12:00pm on Thursday 6th November 2025 or earlier if necessary.
The flood warning area covers Tidal Fal Estuary including Falmouth, Penryn, Flushing, Perranarworthal and Tresillian.
