New Flights Make Cornwall More Accessible from Major UK Cities
Holidaymakers across the UK are discovering that Cornwall is much closer than it once seemed, thanks to a series of new and expanded flight routes connecting major cities to Cornwall Airport Newquay.
With searches for ‘how far away is Cornwall from me’ up by 133% over the past year, and a 262% spike in interest for ‘flights to Cornwall’, demand for faster ways to reach the Cornish coast is on the rise. Now, Parkdean Resorts has revealed that travellers from five major UK cities can reach Cornwall in under two hours.
Flights Cut Hours Off Travel Times
Traditionally seen as a remote escape, Cornwall has long meant enduring long drives. But with demand increasing, Parkdean Resorts has compared driving and flight times from five UK cities, revealing just how much quicker it now is to fly.
City | Average Driving Time | Average Flight Time | Time Saved | Time Saved by % |
---|---|---|---|---|
Aberdeen | 10 hrs 57 mins | 1 hr 25 mins | 9 hrs 32 mins | 87% |
Glasgow | 8 hrs 46 mins | 1 hr 30 mins | 7 hrs 16 mins | 83% |
London | 5 hrs 12 mins | 1 hr 10 mins | 4 hrs 2 mins | 78% |
Manchester | 5 hrs 56 mins | 1 hr 16 mins | 4 hrs 40 mins | 79% |
Newcastle | 7 hrs 35 mins | 1 hr 25 mins | 6 hrs 10 mins | 81% |

From Scotland to the Surf in Under 2 Hours
The biggest time-saver comes for travellers from Aberdeen, where a nearly 11-hour drive is now replaced with a 1-hour 25-minute flight. That’s a time saving of 87%. Glasgow also benefits, with a direct Loganair route cutting over seven hours off the journey.
Parkdean Resorts highlighted that Glaswegians can now “travel over 500 miles in less than two hours, thanks to direct Loganair flight routes between Glasgow and Cornwall.”
Londoners Get Here Quicker Than Their Commute
For those in the capital, Cornwall is now only just over an hour away. With flights from London Stansted, travel time is slashed by 78%, making it faster than many daily commutes.
Weekend Breaks Within Easy Reach from Manchester and Newcastle
Mancunians and Geordies can now swap long motorway drives for quick flights. Travel time from Manchester drops from nearly six hours to just 1 hour and 16 minutes. From Newcastle, a 7.5-hour journey is now just 1 hour 25 minutes.
As Parkdean Resorts put it, “a relaxing weekend on the Cornish coastline has never been quicker”.
