Newquay airport’s September in numbers, and more Stansted flights
Nine in every ten seats to Alicante were taken. That is one of the figures Cornwall Airport Newquay has shared in a look back at its September, a month that also brought a new lounge and news of extra London flights for next spring.

41,979 passengers in a month
The airport says 41,979 passengers passed through its departure lounge during September, with 1,805 air movements recorded over the month.
Late summer sun was a draw. Ryanair’s flights to Alicante saw a 91% load factor (the measure of how full the flights were), which the airport described as “impressive”. It said it seemed plenty of people “were keen to head south for some late summer sunshine”.
The Atlantic Lounge opens
September was also the month the airport launched its new Atlantic Lounge, which it called “an exciting milestone” for its Commercial team.
The lounge has private pods for anyone wanting to catch up on work before a flight, along with what the airport describes as an exclusive cocktail menu. Or passengers can “simply sit back and unwind”.
The airport said the lounge “offers a new way to start your journey with us”. Its Ground Operations and Air Traffic Control teams, it added, were “busy keeping everything moving” while the launch took place.
London Stansted named destination of the month
The airport’s destination of the month for September was London Stansted. It said many passengers “swapped Cornwall for the capital”, with passenger loads on the route up 5% on September 2025.
Ryanair flies direct from Newquay to London Stansted all year round. And the service is set to grow.

Five flights a week from April 2027
From Friday 2 April 2027, the London Stansted service will increase to five flights a week. Flights will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The airport said there is “even more choice on the way”.
