Cornwall weather: Thursday 27 August, thundery bank holiday ahead
If this morning’s downpour had you reaching for the waterproofs, hold on. The Met Office reckons the wet start washes through and brighter skies push up from the south, and today is the calmer half of an unsettled, possibly thundery bank holiday stretch. Here is how the Cornwall weather looks from now through to Monday, taken from the Met Office regional forecast for the South West.

Today
A wet start, but it does not last. Drier, brighter conditions move in from the south through the morning, the cloud lifts and some bright spells break through. A few showers are possible in the afternoon, though most places stay dry. The top temperature reaches 23°C.
Tonight
A mostly dry start to the evening, before a few showers develop across Devon and Cornwall in the early hours. It stays mild for everyone, with the temperature no lower than 13°C.
Friday
The respite is brief. Heavy rain moves into the west through Friday morning, with isolated showers elsewhere, then the rain spreads eastwards and brings the risk of heavy downpours. Despite the wet, it stays warm at up to 23°C.
