A set of keys changed hands on a doorstep in Blackwater this week, and with them came a small piece of Cornish housing history. The new owner had just become the 500th person to move into a Treveth home.

A milestone shared ownership home

The handover took place at Hwel Kan, Treveth’s development in Blackwater, and pushed the Cornish developer’s total portfolio past the 500-home mark. The milestone property is a Shared Ownership home, sold to a local buyer taking their first step onto the property ladder.

Members of the Treveth team joined the new homeowner for the handover, marking both the occasion and the start of what the company calls an exciting new chapter in their new home.

Flowers, a hamper, and a fresh start

To mark the occasion, the team presented the new owner with a bouquet of flowers and a move-in hamper, a small send-off for what is, for most people, one of the biggest days of their lives.

Homes across every tenure

Treveth’s portfolio spans open market sale, Shared Ownership, affordable rent and open market rent, a spread designed to meet a range of housing needs across Cornwall. Its Shared Ownership and affordable rent homes are delivered through Perran Housing, Treveth’s wholly owned Registered Provider, which manages high-quality affordable housing options for local people.

Across its developments, the company says its focus is on delivering high-quality, sustainable homes and creating places where people and communities can thrive.

‘Not just about numbers’

Tim Mulholland, Managing Director at Treveth, said reaching the milestone was a proud moment for the company and its partner, Cornwall Council.

“Reaching this milestone is a fantastic achievement for Treveth and our partner, Cornwall Council, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of. It’s particularly fitting that our 500th home has been handed over through Shared Ownership, helping another local household take a step onto the property ladder. Milestones like this aren’t just about numbers, they’re about the people who make these houses their homes.”

Tim added that every home across the Treveth portfolio has gone to local people with direct connections to the towns and villages where the company has built.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to this achievement, from our employees and contractors to our partners and customers. We’re looking forward to continuing to provide high-quality homes for people who live and work across Cornwall.”

A Cornwall Council-owned developer

Treveth was established by Cornwall Council to build homes and commercial space for the benefit of people who live and work in the county, and is a certified B Corp™. The 500-home total reflects the range of tenures the company has built across Cornwall to date, from open market sale through to affordable rent.

The company continues to invest in sustainable neighbourhoods and high-quality homes for local people, with more developments across the county in its pipeline.
