Grab a trowel: Newquay’s Barrowfields needs volunteer gardeners
You don’t need a green thumb, a spare Thursday, or even the full three hours. You just need to turn up.
That’s the invitation from Cormac, which is calling for volunteers to join its community gardening group at the Barrowfields in Newquay later next month.

When and where
The session runs on Thursday 29 October, from 10am to 1pm, at the Barrowfields. Volunteers are asked to meet behind the middle bus stop, and the group says it’s fine to come along for the whole three hours or just to drop in for part of it.
No experience, no kit needed
All equipment is provided, so nobody needs to bring tools along. The one thing to plan ahead for is what you wear. Cormac is asking volunteers to dress in robust footwear and clothing suitable for gardening and whatever the Cornish weather has in store that day, and to bring any drinks or food they’ll want during the session.
Who’s behind it
Cormac describes it as a community event, open to all. The session was shared publicly by Newquay Town Council on behalf of Cormac’s Urban Ranger team, who look after green spaces across Cornwall on behalf of Cornwall Council.
Anyone with questions, or who wants to check details before heading down, can contact Kelly, Cormac’s Urban Ranger, on [email protected] or 07736 624543.
