Shotgun cartridges in your bin? What Cornwall Recycles says to do

Clearing out a shed, a garage or the back of a cupboard and come across a few old shotgun cartridges? Leave the bin lid shut.

Cornwall Recycles has reminded people that shotgun cartridges shouldn’t go in household rubbish or recycling. There’s a proper route for them, and it’s a simple one.

What to do with unwanted shotgun cartridges

According to Cornwall Recycles, you have two options:

• Take them back to the retailer you bought them from
• Hand them in at a police station

So if you know where they came from, the shop is the first port of call. If you don’t, or the shop is no longer there, a police station will take them.
