Falmouth and Penryn Named in Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2026

Falmouth and Penryn have been named the only Cornish locations included in the 2026 Sunday Times Best Places to Live list.

The recognition highlights the two neighbouring towns as standout places to live in the South West, with local business leaders pointing to a wide mix of factors behind their appeal.

‘Genuinely Exceptional Places’

Keren Cooksey, Falmouth Business Improvement District (BID) Manager, said the inclusion reflects what many already know about the area.

“This Sunday Times inclusion is a brilliant acknowledgement of something those of us who live and work here already know – Falmouth and Penryn are genuinely exceptional places. What makes them so isn’t any single thing. It’s the combination of outstanding independent businesses, a deeply embedded cultural scene, world-class employers, and a community that actually shows up for one another.”

Keren highlighted a range of local businesses recognised as part of what makes the towns thrive.

“It’s great to see businesses like Moth and the Moon, Beerwolf Books, The Cornish Bank, The Poly, Beacon, Chintz Bar, Culture, The Gem, Dark Pony and Espressini recognised alongside major employers like Pendennis, A&P, Trago Mills and our universities. That breadth is exactly what a thriving town looks like. Add to that our waterfront and waterways, beaches, beach saunas, and one of the best festival calendars in the South West, and it’s not hard to see why people choose to put down roots here.”
