Spring Has Arrived Early: Cornwall’s Best Bloom Spots Revealed

Cornwall is once again one of the first places in the UK to welcome spring, with gardens across the county already beginning to fill with colour from mid-March.

Thanks to its mild maritime climate, early blossom is now appearing across a range of well-known gardens and estates, with cherry trees, magnolias, camellias and woodland flowers all starting to bloom.

New insights from Away Resorts highlight some of the best places in Cornwall where both visitors and residents can experience these early signs of the season.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

One of Cornwall’s most recognised gardens, the Lost Gardens of Heligan is already showing signs of spring. Cherry trees are beginning to bloom across the site, adding soft pink tones alongside camellias and magnolias.

As the season develops, daffodils and primroses are expected to appear along woodland paths and within the Victorian gardens, gradually building layers of colour.

Trebah Garden

Located in a valley leading down to the Helford River, Trebah Garden offers a coastal backdrop for early spring flowers.

Magnolias are already visible along paths and terraces, while camellias and rhododendrons are also in bloom. As spring continues, planting across the valley changes, bringing fresh colour throughout the garden.

Trelissick Garden

Overlooking the Fal River near Truro, Trelissick Garden combines wide estuary views with seasonal planting.

Daffodils are a key feature at this time of year, appearing across both the gardens and surrounding parkland. These are joined by magnolias and early rhododendrons, making it a popular spot for a spring walk.

Caerhays Castle and Gardens

On the Roseland Peninsula, Caerhays Castle and its gardens are known internationally for their collection of magnolias.

Each spring, these trees come into bloom, including a 100-year-old Magnolia. Visitors can also find ornamental cherry trees and camellias, creating a varied display across the historic woodland setting.

Lamorran House Gardens

In the village of St Mawes, Lamorran House Gardens provides a more sheltered environment for early blooms.

From March through to May, rhododendrons, evergreen azaleas and camellias reach their peak, adding strong colour across the terraces. Cistus also flowers over a long period, contributing to the display.

Early Signs of the Season

With gardens across Cornwall already beginning to bloom as of Monday 23rd March 2026, the county is once again offering some of the earliest and most varied spring displays in the UK.
