High Lanes in Hayle shut until Thursday after pipe burst
If your usual route takes you along High Lanes, you will need another way round for the next couple of days.
The road in Hayle has been shut under an emergency closure while South West Water repairs a burst communication pipe. Cornwall Council’s Streetworks team says the closure has been approved and is now in progress.

How long High Lanes is closed for
The closure started on Tuesday 6 October and runs until Thursday 8 October. It applies 24 hours a day, so the road does not reopen overnight.
The listing on one.network shows the works as in progress, with the closure in place from 8.53am on Tuesday through to 11.59pm on Thursday. It carries a “delays likely” warning.
The diversion route
A diversion is in place for the full length of the closure. The map published with the notice shows it looping around the Copperhouse side of town, running alongside Copperhouse Pool on the B3301, out towards Guildford Road and back round by St George’s Road.
You can view the High Lanes closure and diversion map on one.network, where any changes to the timings will also show.
Who to contact
South West Water is the contact for the works, on 0344 346 2020.
Cornwall Council’s Streetworks team can be reached on 0300 1234 222 or at [email protected].
In its notice, the council reminds applicants and contractors that they are responsible for putting up, maintaining and removing all the signs needed for a closure. It adds that they have undertaken to notify everyone known to be directly affected, including residents and businesses fronting the road and traders who need to make deliveries or collections in the area.
