Newquay’s St Francis Dogs Home is looking for kennel volunteers
If you have a spare morning or afternoon each week and a soft spot for dogs, there is a kennel block in Newquay that could use you.
St Francis Dogs Home is recruiting volunteers to join its kennel team, and two induction seminars have been lined up for later this month.

What the role involves
The dogs home says it wants to hear from people who enjoy working with dogs, and who would like to help train and rehabilitate the animals in its care.
“If you enjoy working with, helping to train and rehabilitate the dogs in our care, then you could be who we need,” it said.
Who they are looking for
There are three things St Francis Dogs Home is asking of its kennel volunteers:
- To be fit and mobile
- To be able to work without constant supervision
- To be able to commit to at least one session per week
Morning sessions start at 8.30am or 9am and run until 12.30pm or 1pm. Afternoon sessions run from 1pm to 5pm.
Experience is not on the list. The dogs home says it offers full initial training, and that training carries on after volunteers have started.
Induction dates and how to apply
The next induction seminars will be held on Saturday 17 October and Wednesday 28 October.
To get booked in, complete the volunteer application form on the St Francis Dogs Home website. An email will then be sent to you with a link to the online booking system, where you can pick a seminar.
