Published On: 5 May 2026Last Updated: 5 May 2026By

Somewhere on a Cornish lane today, a man with sore feet and a growing Facebook following is putting one foot in front of the other. Jordan Darby set off from Land’s End on 1 May and is now five days into a 1,200 mile walk to John o’ Groats, covering 20 plus miles a day with Cornwall’s hills as his opening test.

Walking for Andy’s Man Club

Jordan is raising money for Andy’s Man Club, the men’s mental health charity that runs free, volunteer-led talking groups for men aged 18 and over every Monday evening at locations across the UK. The charity describes its groups as a space where men can speak openly about what they are going through in a non-judgemental environment, with no charge and no referral needed.

At the time of writing, his JustGiving page has passed £2,008 from 94 donations, with Gift Aid taking the total higher. Donations have been arriving steadily through the early days of the walk, many from family, friends and strangers leaving short messages of support.

Cornwall first, then 1,195 miles to go

Land’s End to John o’ Groats is the classic length-of-Britain challenge, and Cornwall is the part where walkers find out whether their plan survives contact with reality. Jordan is documenting the journey on Facebook, where his following has climbed past 14,700 and continues to grow as he posts updates from the road.
