Newquay’s Esplanade toilets set for payment machine upgrade

Anyone who has ever gone digging for the right change outside the Esplanade toilets is about to get an easier option, and a new one to get used to.

New payment machines going in from next week

Newquay Town Council has confirmed that contactless and coin payment units will be installed at the Esplanade public toilets in Newquay from next week.

The move brings the facility into line with a card-and-coin set-up already familiar from public toilets elsewhere in the county, giving visitors and locals without loose change in their pocket another way to pay.

Facilities may close during the work

The contractor carrying out the installation will aim to keep the toilets open wherever possible while the units go in. The town council has warned, though, that temporary closures may be needed at points during the works.

No exact days or times for any closures have been given. Newquay Town Council apologised for any inconvenience and thanked residents and visitors for their patience while the work is carried out.
