Rugby players are not known for sitting still on their days off. So a spot on the north coast with padel courts, a golf course, a gym, a pool and a sauna was always going to go down well.

A new partner on the north coast

The Cornish Pirates have named The Point at Polzeath as their latest Preferred Accommodation Partner.

The club says its players will also visit regularly to use the leisure facilities and health club, which include padel, golf, tennis, gym, swim and sauna, along with the bar and restaurant.

The Point is a family-run business with apartments and cottages in North Cornwall, close to beaches, surf and local restaurants. It is offering rates for stays during the rugby season.

What the Cornish Pirates say

Ross Hancock, Head of Commercial at the Cornish Pirates, said: “We’re delighted to be working with The Point and further spread ourselves throughout the county, with brilliant facilities to enjoy for our supporters and visiting fans.

“Our players also love the facility and were blown away by what was on offer and will be making the most of it during their down time.”

What The Point says

Tom O’Donnell, Managing Director at The Point, said: “We are thrilled to be working with the Cornish Pirates. There are real similarities between our two organisations: a commitment to quality, a determination to keep improving and a willingness to invest and work hard to achieve our ambitions.

“We have huge respect for what the Pirates are building and are very pleased to support them. We wish the players, coaches and everyone behind the club every success for the season ahead and look forward to welcoming them and their supporters to The Point.”
