Cornwall College St Austell To Offer A Levels From September 2027

Sixth formers in mid-Cornwall will soon have a new option closer to home. Cornwall College St Austell is bringing A Levels back to the town from September 2027, the first cohort in years to study at sixth-form level on the campus.

The college, currently rated Outstanding by Ofsted, confirmed the return as part of a multi-million-pound redevelopment already underway at the site.

A new centre by the end of 2026

A purpose-built A Level centre and new teaching spaces are due to be completed by December 2026, ready for the first students arriving the following September.

18 subjects are planned, with the full list set to be revealed at an upcoming information evening.

Mark Wardle, Executive Principal and Deputy CEO of Cornwall College Group, said: “Bringing A Levels to St Austell will provide young people a strong academic option in their own community. We are building something that combines high-quality teaching, modern facilities and the support and enrichment that students need to progress with confidence.”

Information evening on 4th June

Parents, students and local educators are invited to an A Level Information Evening at the Keay Theatre on Thursday 4th June, from 5.30pm to 7pm. Attendees will be able to meet staff, look at plans for the new facilities and find out more about the subjects on offer.

Applications for the September 2027 intake open on 1st September this year, and the college says early interest is already building, with places expected to be limited.

The A Level offer is being developed in collaboration with Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT), aimed at aligning provision and supporting progression for students across the region.

The wider redevelopment at St Austell is part of Cornwall College’s investment in facilities across the county, supporting both academic and vocational routes.
