Truro Post Office: search for a new home begins

The clock is still running on the post office counter inside TG Jones, but a second one has now started too, the search for wherever it ends up next.

Talks get under way

Following the announcement that TG Jones is closing, the Truro BID Manager met with representatives from the Post Office last week to discuss finding a potential new site for a Post Office within Truro.

Truro BID says there is a process to be followed to relocate all Post Office branches, and that this process has now started for Truro. The organisation says it will update local businesses as and when more information becomes available.

The meeting was also attended by the Mayor of Truro, Cllr Wells, Cllr Webb, MP Jayne Kirkham, and David Rodda, clerk of Truro City Council.

What happens next

There is no word yet on where a replacement counter might land, only that the process is now formally under way. Truro BID says it will keep businesses updated as things move forward.

The countdown on the current counter keeps running regardless. As CornishStuff reported on 25 August, the Post Office inside TG Jones is due to close on Tuesday 6 October, with the rest of the shop following four days later on 10 October.
