Birdwatchers Enjoy a Day of Wildlife and Cake at Towan Head

A group of nature and wildlife enthusiasts enjoyed a successful birdwatching session at Towan Head in Newquay, spotting 17 species of birds during the event.

A Day of Discovery

The event was organised by Rowena Castillo-Nicholls, RSPB Kernow Local Group Leader and Publicity Officer for Cornwall Bird Watching and Preservation Society. Rob Nicholls led the fieldtrip, guiding the group through the scenic coastal spot.

Eight participants took part, recording a variety of bird species including 4 Chough, 8 Jackdaw, 2 Carrion Crow, 4 Rook, 2 Magpie, 2 Gannet, 30+ Herring Gull, 4 Great Black-backed Gull, 5 Oystercatcher, 6 Cormorant, 3 Purple Sandpiper, 20+ Turnstone, 5 Stonechat, 1 Wheatear, 1 Rock Pipit, 3 Meadow Pipit, and 30+ Starling.

A Relaxed Finish

The event ended with tea, coffee, biscuits and cupcakes kindly brought along by Rowena, rounding off an enjoyable day of birdwatching and connection with nature.
