Off-road bikes spotted on the A391 at Stenalees and Penwithick

If you drive the A391 through Stenalees, Carluddon and Penwithick, the bikes in these photos might look familiar.

St Austell Police say they have recently received photos showing illegal off-road motorbikes being ridden on and near the main road in that area. And they have a clear message for whoever is riding them.

Not the first time

The officers say this isn’t the first time they have posted about illegal off-road motorbikes being ridden on the road.

“We don’t want to sound like a broken record but it is only a matter of time before a serious incident occurs due to inexperienced, young riders using non MOT tested and possibly mechanically defective motorbikes on fast and busy main roads,” police said.

Bikes will be seized

St Austell Police say they will continue to seize motorbikes identified as being illegally ridden on the road, and prosecute riders for road traffic offences.

A message for the riders

The appeal ends with a direct plea to the people in the photos.

“If you are the riders of these motorbikes please do not use them on road. We don’t want to be the ones telling your loved ones that you have been killed or seriously injured as a result of a collision.”
