A year of Sunday roasts for West Cornwall Oddfellows in Hayle
Somewhere between the roast potatoes and the pudding, a round of applause broke out in a dining room in Hayle.
It was for Janice, the organiser who has spent the past twelve months getting members of the Oddfellows Friendly Society round a table for Sunday lunch. And the West Cornwall Oddfellows Sunday Lunch Group had good reason to clap. It has just turned one.

A roast with all the trimmings
The group’s latest gathering was held at the White Hart Hotel in Hayle. Members sat down to a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings, followed by a selection of desserts.
In a year the lunches have become a regular fixture in the local calendar. The idea is simple. Good food, friendship and an afternoon in company, with a chance to catch up with familiar faces and meet a few new ones along the way.
A first anniversary, and a thank you
The anniversary gave the afternoon an extra reason to celebrate. Janice was given a warm round of applause in recognition of her hard work and dedication in bringing members and guests together throughout the year.
More Sunday lunches and community events are planned for the months ahead, as the group carries on bringing people together across the District.
