Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery Offers Free Entry on 28th March

Visitors are being invited to step inside Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery for free this weekend, as the Truro attraction celebrates a major milestone.

To mark a successful first year since reopening, the museum will offer free entry to everyone on Saturday 28th March.

Celebrating a year since reopening

The museum reopened in March 2025 following its transformation, which introduced the new-look Heart of Cornwall, Nature Gallery and Art Gallery. Over the past 12 months, it has recorded strong visitor numbers.

Co-Director Bryony Robins said: “We reopened in March 2025 with the new-look Heart of Cornwall, Nature Gallery and Art Gallery, and have recorded outstanding visitor numbers in the 12 months that followed. We want to thank our communities for their incredible support throughout our transformation so far by making the museum free to all this coming Saturday. We look forward to welcoming visitors to celebrate this achievement together.”

Looking ahead to the next phase

In December 2025, the museum received initial support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for the final stage of its ongoing transformation. The funding will allow the museum to develop plans for the final phase, with the aim of submitting a full application for a National Lottery grant in 2027.

Planning your visit

The museum recommends booking in advance online for Saturday, although visitors can also register at the Welcome Desk on the day for free entry.

Those who enjoy their visit can upgrade to an Adult Annual Pass for £10 at the desk when leaving, while under 18s can visit the museum free of charge at any time.
