Pirates Amateurs 49 – Kingsbridge 34
Played at a sunny Mennaye Field on the last Saturday in September, conditions joyously suited for an exciting display of rugby, to which both sides wholly contributed.
This was a closely fought affair in many ways, although the seven to four try count in favour of the ‘Ams’ did underline a general dominance.
Try scorers for the home side were John Tyler (2), Toby Osborne, Harris Eddy, Sam Carter, Sam Carroll and Jake Hole, whilst Ben Wragg slotted four conversions and two penalties.
Commenting after the game, Pirates Amateurs’ head coach Murray Westren said:
“A very hard fought and physical contest that ebbed and flowed for sixty minutes, this was an excellent win.
“We were very patient and played some great rugby. The back to back scores to go two scores ahead were crucial and we finished the game strongly.”
Now third in Counties 1 Tribute Western West, the Pirates Amateurs are next in action away to Paignton on Saturday 12th October.
