Cornish Pirates Announce Team for Ampthill Away Fixture

Published On: 11 October 2025Last Updated: 11 October 2025By

After a narrow home loss to Hartpury last weekend, the Cornish Pirates will be aiming to lift their performance today when they face Ampthill away at Dillingham Park. Kick-off is at 3pm.

Team Changes for the Clash

The Pirates have made several adjustments to their starting XV. Ben Cambriani comes in on the wing, while Harry Yates moves to centre, replacing Joe Elderkin, who was shown a 20-minute red card last weekend.

In the forwards, Matt Cannon will partner Josh King in the second row, with Rory Suttor, who came off the bench last week, making his first league start in the number six shirt.

On the bench, Milo Hallam, who started at lock against Hartpury, fills the spot left by Suttor, while prop James French replaces Ollie Andrews.

Coach Gavin Looks for a Stronger Start

Cornish Pirates’ joint head coach Gavin Cattle reflected on last weekend’s performance and what the team needs to improve:

“Last Saturday we were slow out of the blocks, which is something we need to address, and although overall getting probably what we deserved we did show a bit of character in the second half.

“As always, we are expecting a tough game against Ampthill, who are aggressive at the breakdown and have good line speed, plus they nowadays have the wisdom of my old friend Dave Ward behind them.

“We know they will be quite buoyant after their win last weekend away to Cambridge, and for us it is about how we respond and perform, to hopefully see an improvement in certain areas to help get us back on track.”
