Up to £100,000 Available for Community Infrastructure Projects in Cornwall

Published On: 16 January 2026Last Updated: 16 January 2026By

Community groups across Cornwall can now apply for funding of between £20,000 and £100,000 to support projects aimed at improving local infrastructure and helping communities feel more connected.

The funding is available through Cornwall Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy Fund, known as the CIL Fund. It is open to community groups, town and parish councils, and not for profit organisations.

What the funding can support

The CIL Fund focuses on infrastructure projects that help connect communities. This can include improvements to shared community spaces or better links between places, making it easier for people to get around and feel part of their area.

Sarah Preece, Cornwall Council cabinet member for tourism, localism and planning, said:

“We want to support projects that bring communities together. This could mean improving community spaces so more people can enjoy them, or creating better links between places so it’s easier to get around and feel connected. For example, adding or upgrading footpaths, and improving local areas for play, learning, and activities.”

How to apply

Groups interested in applying must complete an Expression of Interest by Friday 27th February. The strongest proposals will then be invited to submit a full application.

More information about the fund and how to apply can be found on the council website by visiting the page to find out more about applying to the CIL Fund.

Funding already making an impact

Since the first round of the CIL Fund launched in 2020, more than £5.8 million has been awarded to 87 projects across Cornwall. Funded work has included accessible paths, walking and cycle routes, as well as improvements to youth centres and schools, football pitches, and skate and play parks.

The money for the fund comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy, which is a charge on developers designed to help reduce the cumulative impact of development. Further details on how this works are available on the council’s Community Infrastructure Levy page.
