Newquay Pride returns to the Killacourt this Saturday

Rainbow flags are about to outnumber the surfboards. This Saturday, Newquay turns its town centre over to colour, noise and a parade of flags for the return of Newquay Pride, and organisers are asking businesses up and down the town to join in.

When and where

Newquay Pride runs at the Killacourt from 10am to 8pm this Saturday, 29 August. The centrepiece is the Pride Parade, which sets off from Barrowfields at 12 noon before making its way through the town to the Killacourt itself.

Organisers are expecting the town to be busy, vibrant and full of colour for the day, with residents and visitors alongside the parade itself.

The parade route

The parade forms up at Barrowfields shortly before midday and moves through Newquay’s streets on its way down to the Killacourt, where the main event continues through the afternoon and into the evening.

Newquay’s businesses asked to join in

Ahead of the day, organisers have been calling on local traders to get behind Pride, however big or small the gesture. Suggestions include dressing the shop front, getting the team involved, putting rainbows up in the window, creating a Pride offer or special, joining the parade itself, or simply making sure the business feels welcoming to everyone who walks through the door.

Even a single rainbow in a window is said to help build the atmosphere and show that Newquay is a welcoming town for everyone. Businesses with something planned for the weekend are being encouraged to share it and tag their photos so organisers can showcase what’s going on around the town.
