Found in an attic: the RSPCA Cornwall rescue reunion at Silverbow

One was found in an attic. Another was born in foster care after her mum was rescued from a flat where 65 dogs were living. Now they are out on walks with the families who took them home, and some of them came back to say hello.

A reunion 30 years in the making

RSPCA Cornwall Branch is marking 30 years, and as part of the celebrations it invited a small group of former residents and their families to Silverbow Country Park for a special Rescue Reunion Walk.

It gave the team a chance to catch up, hear how life has changed since adoption, and celebrate a handful of the thousands of happy endings that have started with the RSPCA in Cornwall over the past three decades.

Meet the rescues

Maisie

Maisie was rehomed alongside her best friend, Ninja the cat. As a bonded pair, it mattered that the two of them found their forever home together.

Maggie

Maggie came into the branch’s care with a painful cherry eye and needed surgery before she could find her forever home.

Jessie

Jessie was born in foster care after her mum was rescued as part of what the branch describes as a heartbreaking case involving 65 dogs living in a flat.

Derek

Derek was found in an attic with his littermates. According to the branch, he has come a long way since then.

Georgio

Georgio was one of the Golden Retrievers rescued from the former Golden Retriever Experience in Minehead, Somerset.

One thing in common

The branch said seeing them all again, and knowing how far each of them has come, was incredibly special.

“Every rescue story is different, but they all have one thing in common: a second chance,” it said. “We’re so grateful to everyone who helps animals like these find the happy endings they deserve.”
