National Trust Announces Spring Events Across Cornwall
Spring Days Out You Won’t Want to Miss Across Cornwall
The National Trust has shared a packed line-up of events across Cornwall this spring, with activities running throughout April, May and into early June.
From Easter trails and family-friendly half-term events to workshops, exhibitions and guided walks, there is something happening at sites right across the county. Full details, including opening times, can be found on the National Trust website: visit Cornwall.
The conservation charity says that every visit helps support the care of historic places, countryside and coastline for future generations.
Easter Trails and Family Events
Many National Trust locations are hosting Easter-themed trails during the school holidays.
At Antony, an Easter egg hunt runs from 1st to 16th April between 12noon and 5pm, with activities including giant games, croquet and a themed garden experience. Trails cost £3.50, with normal admission applying.
Over at Cotehele, the Creature Easter Trail takes place from 28th March to 19th April, featuring activities celebrating wildlife found across the estate.
At Glendurgan, Easter Adventures runs from 28th March to 12th April, offering a family trail through the garden with activities and a treat at the end.
Other Easter trails are also taking place at:
- Godolphin from 5th to 27th April
- Lanhydrock from 28th March to 19th April
- Trelissick from 28th March to 19th April
- Trengwainton from 3rd to 19th April excluding Fridays and Saturdays
- Trerice from 28th March to 12th April
- Pentire from 2nd to 6th April
Most trails are priced at £3.50, with normal admission fees applying unless stated otherwise.
Talks, Workshops and Exhibitions
A range of talks and creative workshops are also planned.
At Antony, a “Brilliant Bees” talk takes place on 16th April from 1.30pm to 2pm, led by Tim Payne from City Bees, focusing on bumble, solitary and honey bees.
Cotehele will host a wet felting workshop on 8th April and a spring-inspired block printing workshop on 13th May, both priced at £45 per person and requiring booking. The site will also feature an exhibition by Sammy Davies from 2nd to 10th May.
At Trelissick, visitors can see Honor Budden’s botanical illustrations from 1st to 19th April, along with a Truro Art Society exhibition from 2nd to 17th May.
Meanwhile, Botallack will host art exhibitions throughout April and May, showcasing work inspired by Cornwall’s coastline and landscapes.
Outdoor Activities and Nature Events
For those looking to get outdoors, there are plenty of opportunities to explore.
Glendurgan is hosting a One Bag Beach Clean at North Helford on 14th April, while regular beach cleans take place at locations including The Dodman, Porthcurnick and Pendower.
Running events also feature, with Trust10 trail runs at Godolphin on 26th April and at Pentire on 26th April and 24th May.
At Lanhydrock, blossom bathing walks run from 1st April to 22nd May, offering visitors a chance to explore the gardens during the spring season.
Guided tours are also available, including garden tours at Glendurgan on selected dates in April and May, and archaeology walks at Trerice running through April, May and into June.
Half-Term and Seasonal Highlights
May half term brings additional family activities across several sites.
Antony, Godolphin, Lanhydrock and Trengwainton will all host family-friendly events between 23rd May and 31st May, with activities ranging from garden games and trails to creative outdoor experiences.
At Trerice, Tudor Week runs from 25th to 29th May, featuring archery, crafts, games and themed activities.
Trelissick will also host falconry displays from 27th to 31st May, with demonstrations taking place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
Heritage and History Experiences
Visitors interested in Cornwall’s history can explore a range of heritage-focused events.
At Levant, “Into the Depths” tours on 6th and 7th April will explore life underground in Cornwall’s mining past.
Godolphin House will be open from 4th to 9th April, offering insight into what was once Cornwall’s largest and finest house.
At Carne and Pendower, guided bunker tours take place on 24th May, exploring the history of a nuclear bunker and nearby structures.
Elsewhere, Tintagel Old Post Office will host cloam oven baking demonstrations on 14th, 16th and 18th April.
Looking Ahead
The National Trust says its spring programme offers a wide mix of activities for all ages, encouraging people to explore Cornwall’s historic places, gardens and coastlines.
