Birdwatching Group Enjoy Weekend Visit to Towan Head in Newquay
Eighteen nature and wildlife enthusiasts enjoyed a birdwatching event at Towan Head in Newquay over the weekend, with sunshine, heavy rain and clear skies all making an appearance.
Changing weather on the headland
The group began birdwatching in bright sunshine. After around 30 minutes, the weather turned and heavy rain set in. Despite the downpour, the group continued, and after about 45 minutes the rain cleared and the sun came out again, allowing the session to continue in better conditions.
Who organised the event
The event was organised by Rowena Castillo-Nicholls, Founder and Chair of Connect with Nature, RSPB Kernow Group Leader and Publicity Officer of Cornwall Birds.
The fieldtrip leader was Rob Nicholls.

During the session, the group recorded sixteen species of birds:

A relaxed end to the event
The birdwatching session finished with coffee and tea, along with cheese, crackers and ham, rounding off what was described as an enjoyable outing despite the mixed weather.
